MISSING!

Something has been taken from me!

What has been stolen you ask?

Well let me tell you, I have a list of blogs that I “follow,” and this morning when I opened up my blogger page, under my “Blogs I am following” section, it was _________.

Yes Blank! What the heck happened? There are at least 13 blogs I follow and now I am a follower of Jesus alone. (Had to throw that one in there- it was just too easy.)

Now I am stuck and don’t know what to do. Do I wait for them to come back? Do I go and search them out? Did they all get together and decide to kick me off of their blogs? Do I re-tag their blogs to follow? Or is that considered blog stocking, which will result in them all handing over to me a blog restraining order? Maybe they will all suddenly re-appear, just as they all went MIA, (The vortex!).

So sad, right?
I know… Life is tough.

To those wonderful bloggers I follow (The Musings of the Mrs., LA Mom, Patrice xoxo, in the waiting line, and many many more), if your follower count last night suddenly decreased by one have no fear, I didn’t stop loving your blog- in fact my morning wasn’t the same without you.

The Second (and hopefully last) Flood

Rather than cry about it I decided to blog about it. Cause I just could laugh about the possibility of spending hundreds of dollars and replacing all the meat I bought on sale yesterday. No, that’s just not funny. Nor is the puddle I am standing in inside my kitchen. My fridge is defrosting by the second and I have not a clue what to do. So I decided to make a few phone calls: eh hem…

Call #1 My dad:

Me: Hi dad-

Dad: Hey how’s it going?

Me: Fine… Dad my refrigerator is broke.

Dad: Okay… and what do you want me to do from here?

Me: Fix it!?

Dad: Well at least you can get a blog out of it.

Me: Already on it.

Call # 2: My friend Kevin- (he didn’t answer I had to leave a voicemail)

Me: Hi Kevin- it’s Katie and I am calling you because I have a big big BIG problem and you are always good at fixing my big big BIG problems. But you are probably not answering your phone because you are getting paid to fix other people’s big big BIG problems. But I miss you and that should be payment enough from me. Okay bye friend.

Call # 3: My friend Bob- (he also didn’t answer so I had to leave another message)

Me: Hi Bob, it’s Katie and I am calling the smartest person I know in the whole wide world and you know that’s true cause I am all the way in Paris to help me fix the biggest problem in the whole wide world right now. But you are not answering and therefore imminent disaster is about to take place.

Then I gave up calling and started to write. In the midst of typing my VM to Bob I heard the best sound in my life… My Fridge RESTARTED! Ahhhhhhh Thank you Jesus for hearing my desperate cries! My only issue now, is this fridge has to stick it out for another year. Come on baby- Stay cold!

But we are not done yet, I went onto facebook and my friend bob told me to call him back. I called him back, and was assured I knew he was the smartest person in the whole wide world. Want proof? where it is Bob heard my problem and then without hesitating started asking me questions about my fridge and broke down to me the mechanical reasons of why my fridge stopped working and then suddenly turned back on. Bob then assured me that my fridge should continue to work for the remainder of my time here. Told ya, smartest guy in the world.

So in the end my fridge breakdown didn’t turn into a nervous breakdown but a time to chat with a good friend, and had me laughing at myself once again.

Flip the Switch

Last Tuesday complete devastation hit my apartment… My internet service went out!

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

I called my service company and they told me someone would come next Tuesday to fix the problem.

Tuesday came – I waited at my apartment for someone to come as I was instructed. No one did. But! I did receive a phone call from a technician informing me that the internet was reactivated. As instantly that my internet went out- it was now turned back on, a week later.

The best person to describe this entire situation is Brian Regan. This sketch fully describes my disconnected phone and internet situation.

Gazole vs. Sans Plomb

I would now like to give you all a lesson in pumping gas.
In France, Unleaded would be called Sans Plomb. While alternatively Diesel would be called Gazole.

When I was handed the keys to the car I am "using" (note I do not own this car) I was told the car takes Diesel- and that Gas here is called Sans Plomb. The car was a quarter of a tank full at the time. When I went to pump gas for the first time my dear friend Tiffany did so for me because my credit card would not work in their machines and the store to pay with cash was already closed. Thus I did not pay attention to what fuel she put into the vehicle. Though I remembered her saying something about Gazole.

Yesterday, I noticed it once again was time to fill up the car. I pulled up to the gas station and there staring at me were two options... Gazole vs Sans Plomb. (Place Scarry killer music here: Reeek Reeek Reeek) Hmmm I thought... Which one do I put in... "Oh! Tiffany told me to use Gazole for Diesel." So I pick the Gazole. Two Liters later I realize I am mixing fuels because the owner of the car said, "Sans Plomb." I immediately stop pumping and being to fuel up on Sans Plomb, Praying I will not blow up.

Feeling a bit more assured that I have made the right decision in what I am putting in my car to make it run, I begin to confidently fill up my car with the Sans Plomb. While looking around the gas station I see that on the stall across from me on the Gazole pump someone had written the word- DIESEL!
UT-OH! I promptly let go of the lever flowing the poison of Sans Plomb into my car and wonder what to do next.

I now have have in my gas tank: half unleaded half Diesel. I think to my self... "Only Katie Hickey would do something like this." And then think- I can't be the first person to make this mistake and that I really really hope I don't blow up!

Turns out, I didn't blow up. Though, this mistake is not recommended. Should you ever make this mistake here are the steps you should take to correct it. You should have the incorrect gasoline drained from your car and then re-fill your tank with the correct energy source. However- because I now had a mix of half and half was told to finish filling my tank with GAZOLE (not Sans Plomb) to make the Gazole more dominant and the car should run fine.

I know this is one mistake I will be sure not to make twice. I will now ALWAYS remember that Gazole is Diesel and Sans Plomb is Unleaded. And if this helps you avoid making the same mistake, then I feel okay about my idiotness!

DOH!
